Quick Hits - Snood

June 16th, 2009

Snood, a new game hit in HAS, has been found out and are being enjoyed by the few people who play this game. Wyatt Chen, a HAS gamer, finally got bored of the game that he has been playing the whole semester, “Marble Blast Gold”, and decided to move on to this game.

In this game, you shoot different kinds of heads (blocks) and try to get three of the same heads in consequential order, and those same kind of blocks will disappear. The objective of the game is making all the blocks disappear.

The first person to play this game was Mr.Porter, and he was the one who taught Mr. Chen how to play this game. He currently holds the first rank of this game, but Mr.Chen seems to be practicing hard and you do not know what will happen next.

Chinese

May 5th, 2009

I usually move around a lot from country to country because of my dad’s job being a professor and that he always moves around from university to university trying to find a new place after his contract ends. Becuase of this, I too move around a lot and i think that has effected my life a lot. I had a chance to learn about different cultures around the world and learn to speak different languages (even thought I forgot one).

When moved to Taiwan, I first thought why can’t I just stay in one place? I was sick of moving around all the time. I moved to Taipei and attended a international school there before moving to Hsinchu. I like Taiwan but I think that the hardest thing about living here is not being able to speak chinese to the people. It’s really hard when you go to some place and you don’t know what the people say and stuff. I went to a chinese learning summer camp last summer but I basically forgot everything I learnt over the first semester I was in HAS. My parents weren’t very happy about that and they got a tutor for chinese about 2 months ago ad have beem learning chinese since then.
